Kelly & Dan * 2011 Engagement Photography * Pittsburgh, PA

This time of year makes it a bit difficult to determine when to schedule evening sessions. The already shortening days are made even shorter after we “fall back” as daylight savings ends. It’s always a goal to try for the best light possible but pushing things too late can lead to a quick loss of light and an entirely different feel to the gallery. With careful planning (and maybe a little luck) we were able to time Kelly & Dan’s e-session almost perfectly and make some amazing Fall photos. (more…)

Dan & Dee Dee * 2011 Wedding Photography * Pittsburgh, PA

Josh Mariana Photography closed out our 2011 wedding season on November 5th, photographing the fantastically enjoyable wedding of Dan & Dee Dee in Oakmont, PA. The Harmer House has never failed to deliver fun-filled wedding receptions in the past, but Dan & Dee Dee also chose to have their ceremony there as well. The facility & staff impressed me with their ability to handle the entire event! We hitched a ride in an RV to a small park nearby for some photo fun in between the ceremony and reception. The party got started as soon as we returned and kept rockin’ all night thanks to Steve Maffei Jr. (more…)

Katie & Steve * 2011 Engagement Photography * Pittsburgh, PA

There are few houses as interesting as the mansion at Hartwood Acres. When Katie and Steve suggested this as a location for their engagement session, I jumped on the chance in a heartbeat! We originally planned to do this shoot in the evening but go rained out, and I’m so glad that happened! The mansion looked amazing in the late-morning light of a beautiful Fall day in Pittsburgh.

As per usual, Katie and Steve were a little apprehensive at first as they are not used to being photographed by a nutty photographer, so we eased into the shoot by slowly walking around the mansion, capturing frames here and there. By the end of the session the dynamic had shifted to a fun morning hanging out, Steve was pumping out creative ideas and they even trusted me enough to climb into the huge oak tree that reside in the “backyard.” (more…)

Anna & Steve * 2011 Engagement Photography * Pittsburgh, PA

Anna and Steve weren’t exactly sure where they wanted to have their engagement session, but they knew they wanted something outdoorsy. Having recently photographed a wedding at Settler’s Cabin park I knew that the scenery was perfect there and so upon my suggestion the location was set. What we didn’t plan for was the three straight days of 20-30MPH winds prior to the shoot that sent practically every leaf in the park flying into the woods! (more…)
