Can you blame a girl for wanting to make a big entrance? I’m 32 and I’ve never been on a helicopter ride…precious little Sloane got one on her first day of life! All kidding aside, I was so relieved that Sloane’s dramatic arrival (complete with life-flight and month-long hospital stay) ended so happily, with baby, Momma and everyone else doing wonderfully. We of course had to make an exception to our normal 7-10 day-old time period for infant photos, but I think you’ll agree that the wait was more than worth it! (more…)

Karin & Steve * 2011 Engagement Photography * Boston, MA

Don’t you just love/hate feeling like a tourist? It’s so cool to be in a completely new place. At the same time it can be intimidating. I haven’t had the opportunity to travel that much (yet) for the purpose of photography but after meeting with Karin, Steve and Mary Ann (Mother of the bride) it seemed like the obvious choice to have their e-session in Boston, where they currently live. Ethan Is One!

Little Ethan came to visit me in the studio last week and we had the best time! Mommy (Melissa) made sure to bring a sweet wardrobe with lots of variety, something I always recommend to all of my clients. You can always decide to wear/not wear something when you get here, but if you leave an outfit/accessory at home I can almost guarantee that’s the one you’ll want as soon as we start shooting!!

It was really a pleasure hanging out with Ethan and Melissa for a few hours. Our two-year-old Lizzie even got to hang around while Daddy worked. Ethan seemed to like having a little friend around! Check out a selection from the session:

Brandon & Val * 2011 Engagement Photography * Pittsburgh, PA

How can anyone not like the Fall?? Warm days, cool nights, changing colors, etc. The trouble with changing seasons & photography is that things can change very quickly. Outdoor summer sessions can easily run from 8:00pm right through until after sunset between 9:30 or 10:00pm. We originally scheduled Brandon and Val’s e-session for 7:00pm and at the last minute moved it up to 6:30pm due to weather and light concerns. Turns out we almost cut it too close even with the change! Heavy clouds w/ light rain moved in early and we had to scramble a bit to get a good group of pics done at Frick Park in Squirrel Hill. Colleen & Jeff * 2011 Wedding Photography * Pittsburgh, PA

Usually I can count on September weddings to have fairly mild weather, with extremes being pretty rare exceptions. Saturday, September third was one of those exceptions! Highs in the area reportedly reached 97 degrees in some places and I’ll wager that temperatures inside of South Side Presbyterian Church climbed well over 100. (more…)
